CAMPAIGNS
Amphibian and Reptile Conservation runs a number of campaigns aimed at
encouraging the public and volunteers to help conserve the UK's frogs, toads, newts,
snakes and lizards.
Add an Adder
Are adders disappearing before our very eyes? Many say they are. We need
your recollections, stories and observations, both past and present.
>>>
Alien Encounters
In order to understand whether non-native
amphibians and reptiles could be a problem for our native species we’re
recording where they’re found in the wild in the UK.
>>>
Dragons in your Garden
ARC is encouraging people to make changes to their gardens so that local
amphibians and reptiles have new places to live, to help replace their
disappearing habitats in the wider countryside. >>>
Amphibian Disease
Introduced diseases pose a real threat to amphibians around the world.
In the UK two such diseases are present. Over twenty years thousands of incidents of amphibian disease (called
ranavirus) have been recorded Help us discover more.
>>>
National Amphibian and Reptile Recording Scheme
Through volunteer-based surveys, we aim to monitor the conservation status of all native
amphibian and reptile species, and keep an eye on the introduced species.
The National Amphibian and Reptile Recording Scheme (NARRS) relies upon
close partnership between Amphibian and Reptile Conservation and the
ARG UK voluntary network, the statutory agencies, NGOs and other organisations.
>>>
Sliding Scales
There is a general lack of awareness of the
conservation needs of snakes amongst landowners and members of the
wider community. Over the coming year ARC will be attempting to rectify
this, to increase awareness of snake conservation issues and to correct the
misperceptions of these lovely animals.
