Amphibians and reptiles throughout the year

The needs of amphibians and reptiles change through the seasons - at different times of year you will find them in different places around the garden, or not in the garden at all.

Spring
During spring it's all about breeding for amphibians, whereas may reptiles take longer to emerge from hibernation. >>>

Summer
The summer is often about finding food. Young amphibians in the pond are rapidly developing and reptiles are starting to breed. >>>

Autumn
As the weather cools down amphibians and reptiles are less active, spending much of their time stocking up in time for winter. >>>

Winter
Amphibians and reptiles find suitable places to see out the coldest weather, such as compost heaps or under your garden shed, but amphibians in particular may emerge to forage in mild conditions. >>>
