Amphibian and Reptile Conservation is working to conserve the habitats our species depend on, whether by directly managing an important site or influencing policy to protect them.

Current work:

Nature reserves
Amphibian and Reptile Conservation owns, leases or formally manages over 80 nature reserves across the UK, including 45 sites in Dorset.

Habitat Action Plans
Amphibian and Reptile Conservation are on the steering group for the Lowland Heathland Habitat Action Plan and the Ponds Habitat Action Plan, as well as being involved with local projects, including being Lead organisation for the London BAP Standing Water Habitat Action Plan and joint lead partner on the Ponds, Lakes and Reservoirs Habitat Action Plan for Cambridgeshire.

Million Ponds project
Working with the charity Pond Conservation, Amphibian and Reptile Conservation are helping to create an extensive network of new ponds across the UK. Our contribution to the Million Ponds project focuses on the habitats of BAP species (great crested newts, common toads and grass snakes).
