Land-use planning Whether as reactive ‘development control’ or proactive ‘forward
planning’, land-use planning affects our wildlife, especially reptiles
and amphibians. Strong conservation policies here will make a
significant contribution to the long term survival of populations. We
are therefore involved actively at all levels in seeking stronger
protection and enhancement measures and seeing a greater support for
biodiversity conservation through the planning system. To help local
implementation (in England) we have produced the following documents:
Guidance on building development (England) with respect to amphibians
and reptiles.
>>> Common toads and roads: guidance for
planners and highways engineers (England).
