We are on a mission to showcase our amazing native reptiles and the heathland habitat on which they depend.

The Snakes in the Heather team will be hosting numerous events to inspire interest in heathland and reptile conservation. All these events are free of charge and families are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Please note, the events below are in addition Wild Wednesdays, Volunteer Days and events booked on behalf of groups. If that is the case this events page will be updated by 9am on the day of the event.

Friday 22nd February

'Make and Take' at Boscombe Library. 11am-1pm

This February half term we are at Boscombe Library. Join us for a morning of reptile themed arts and crafts. It'll be lots of fun, and you are sure to learn something!

Sunday 31st May 

'Healthy Heathland Walk' at Livability Holton Lee. 10:30am-12pm

Join us for a guided walk through heahtland and surrounds at Livability Holton Lee. We will start with an overview of local reptile conservation before embarking on a gentle walk, stopping frequently to highlight local wildlife and appreciate our time in nature. Please weare suitable shoes, and bring water, sunscreen and any medicaiton as required. Please be mindful of protecting yourself againts ticks when picking your clothes for the walk.

Meet at the Livability Holton Lee main car park. East Holton, Holton Heath, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6JN


Sunday 26th - Tuesday 28th June 

'Devon Heath Week' at Pebbledbed Heaths. Details TBC

We will be at the main marquee for the first 3 days of Devon Heath Week to highlight the wonderful wildlife of heathlands. Activties will include an arts and cratfs table and daily reptile walks for children. Full details TBC.


Saturday 15th August 

'Reptile Day' at Lepe Country Park. 10:30am-3pm

We will be joining our friends at Lepe Country park for a reptile day in August. Activties will include an arts and cratfs table and a reptile walks for children. Full details TBC.


Saturday 12th September 

'Community Fair' at Livability Holton Lee. 10:30am-12pm

We will be joining our friends at Livability Holton Lee for thier annual Community Fair. Activties will include an arts and cratfs table and a guided heathland walk. Full details TBC.


Wednesday 28th October 

'Wild Play Day' at Holmsey Campsite, New Forest

We've joined forces with the New Forest National Park Authority on their Wild Play Day where we will be leading all sorts of fun activities you can do outside and on the heath, whilst still respecting the wildlfie. There will be lots of other groups present, each one leading games and activties you can do outside. This is sure to be the highlight of the October half-term! Full details TBC.
