TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

Our Snakes in the Heather Sunday Fundays have been put together for groups of families and friends who want to support local wildlife whilst learning all about it too. They take place on Parley Common in Dorset; a heathland nature reserve which is home to all sorts of wonderful and unique species including reptiles like the smooth snake.

The days will involve all sorts of different activities depending on the group and weather. We will often start with more practical tasks like using hand tools to remove invasive birch, pine and gorse, 'bracken bashing' or litter picking. (Children must be supervised at all times). We will finish the days with fun and games.

The activities may be adapted if it is wet or windy; there is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing! Please dress in layered clothing and bring any snacks and drinks with you.

Booking by the Friday before is essential and you can book multiple days. Each booking must have at least 1 responsible adult. The maximum group size is 5 in accordance with social distancing guidance. For available times and dates see below. These events are free of charge as part of the Snakes in the Heather project.

Book by emailing Owain on [email protected] using the subject; Nurture Nature Sundays. Please include the following information in your email: The date/dates you would like to book for, the names of everyone in the group, the ages of the children, your mobile telephone number and any other information you think worth noting to run a safe and enjoyable event.

If you are running late or have to cancel last minute please ring Owain on 07388948442.
