Want to help protect Sefton sand dunes’ important wildlife?

Our Gems in the Dunes team will be running a series of volunteer sessions throughout the year. Our April task dates are:

Tuesday 10th 10am-3pm – natterjack scrape creation. Carrying on with creating dune scrapes to create new habitat.

Thursday 12th 10am-1pm – group natterjack toad recording session. An opportunity for those with and without a license to carry out recording work in a group with project staff.

Saturday 14th 10am-3pm – sand patch creation. There is a very small window of time, when sand lizards are out of hibernation but before egg laying has begun, lasting around 6-8 weeks. This is the only time of year that sand patches can be created so that there is bare ground for basking and egg laying.

Tuesday 17th 10am-3pm – sand patch creation. Carrying on with sand patch creation.

Thursday 19th 10am-1pm - group natterjack toad recording session. An opportunity for those with and without a license to carry out recording work in a group with project staff.
