Contract: 1 year contract (with the expectation of the role becoming permanent subject to performance)

Hours: full-time

ARC Ecological Services Ltd is a consultancy that provides professional ecological services and donates its profits to the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust (ARC), a national charity. In doing so, ARC Ecological Services Ltd increases the capacity for ARC to undertake important conservation work, as well as demonstrating good practice in the consultancy sector. ARC Ecological Services Ltd largely focuses on advice relating to reptiles and amphibians.

ARC Ecological Services Ltd is seeking a Consultancy Manager as it enters a new period of growth. Your main roles would be to manage the development of the consultancy, secure new business, to oversee the delivery of contracts, and to lead on particular aspects of contract delivery. We anticipate that the role would suit an experienced ecologist looking to move into consultancy management. The Consultancy Manager will recruit and subsequently line manage an additional Ecologist post, to be advertised later in 2024. The Consultancy Manager will be responsible for ensuring that contracts are delivered to time, budget and quality. Depending on the nature of the work, contract delivery may involve the Ecologist post, sub-contractors or ARC staff, and the Consultancy Manager will be responsible for managing those arrangements.

Your responsibility will be to considerably increase the scale of income generated through consultancy business, making changes to operations and strategy as required and after agreement by Directors. The role will report to the Managing Director of ARC Ecological Services Ltd. You will have the opportunity to work alongside ARC’s specialist staff. You will have an opportunity to learn from and contribute to ARC’s conservation projects.

We are seeking a highly motivated person with significant consultancy experience, and ideally considerable expertise with amphibians and reptiles in a consultancy setting. Opportunities for training will be provided.

The post is offered for an initial 1-year period, but with the expectation of making the role permanent depending on personal performance and progress with consultancy development. The post-holder would be expected to start in September 2024.

How to apply: Please email a covering letter explaining your interest in the role and how you meet the person specification, plus a CV, to [email protected] by 5pm on Monday 17 June 2024.  Interviews will be held in Bournemouth in the week commencing 8 July 2024.

For an informal and confidential discussion about this role, please contact Jim Foster ([email protected]). For more information on Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust visit www.arc-trust.org
