You can't beat the excitement when you spot a little lizard or snake disappearing into the heather when running in the New Forest, it doesn't happen often. When I completed my zoology degree some 10 years ago I had big dreams of fighting for reptiles, unfortunately my life progressed a bit differently (2 kids and veterinary nursing career that got too much) this project is a way of me returning to my roots, being more than just a mum and giving back to a species I love and am fascinated by. The New Forest is home to many rare and endangered reptiles and amphibians, managing sites for these amazing animals also benefits many other species. You can visit some of the reptiles which live here at the New Forest Reptile Centre, you will understand the excitement when you finally spot one in the enclosures. Running the New Forest Marathon will be a big challenge for me (the furthest I have run so far is 10km, a marathon is 42.1 km). I have been busy looking at training plans, looking at ways I can be involved and more methods of fundraising. I appreciate all support, no matter how big or small, and if you can't afford to donate then please help me by sharing (or offering a stop for some of my longer training runs!)
