Swyddog prosiect, Tawny Clark, yn myfyrio ar y rhwydweithiau a grëwyd gan y prosiect Cysylltu'r Dreigiau.

Un o rannau mwyaf gwerthfawr y prosiect hwn fu cysylltu â'r holl bobl sydd wedi ein helpu ar hyd y daith hon i gysylltu dreigiau. Mae'r bobl hynny sy'n ymgysylltu ac yn ennyn eu brwdfrydedd gan y byd naturiol a'n herpetofauna godidog, sydd wedi rhoi eu hamser a'u hymrwymiad i gefnogi ein hachos a hyrwyddo ein rhywogaethau. 

Ni fyddai llwyddiant Cysylltu'r Dreigiau yn bosibl heb ymdrechion anhygoel ein gwirfoddolwyr gwych. Ar ran tîm y prosiect, hoffwn ddiolch i bawb sydd wedi gwneud Cysylltu'r Dreigiau yn fraint ac yn bleser pur i fod yn rhan ohoni.

Ddiwedd mis Hydref gwelwyd llu o weithdai domennu wyau neidr glaswellt. Gydag ambell saib i dynnu weli (ynghyd â'r unigolyn yn ei wisgo) o'r mwd, taflodd tîm ieuenctid Fferm Gymunedol Abertawe eu hegni a'u brwdfrydedd trawiadol i greu tomen newydd wych ar rostir Cadle.

Wastad yn awyddus i gydweithio a gwneud defnydd effeithlon o amser ac ymdrech, ymunais â staff o adran tîm AONB a pharciau Cyngor Abertawe, ynghyd â gwirfoddolwyr o Brosiect Cymunedol Cwm Clun (CVCP) ar gyfer tasg waith cadwraeth gyfunol. Fe wnaethon ni hyrddio glaswellt a thoriadau miaren o ardal creu dolydd i dri thomen dodwy wyau, wedi'u lleoli mewn llystyfiant trwchus ar ymylon y glaswelltir. Tra ein bod ni’n gweithio, roedd yr ardal yn cael ei chylchdroi; Cyn i bawb ddod at ei gilydd i wasgaru hadau cribell felen dros yr hyn sydd i fod i gael ei droi'n ddôl llawn rhywogaethau. Rwy'n edrych ymlaen at weld sut y bydd yn esblygu yn y blynyddoedd i ddod.

Gydag wythnosau i fynd nes bydd y prosiect yn dod i ben, rwyf wedi bod yn Aberdyfi gyda thîm o wirfoddolwyr diflino, gan gloddio clytiau tywod ar dwyni tywod ar gyfer madfallod tywod. Mae wedi bod yn ddau ddiwrnod o waith caled, chwerthin a cheisio meddwl am y trac sain clytio tywod yn y pen draw, tra bod pawb wedi gweithio'n ddiflino drwy wynt, heulwen a bwa glaw mis Tachwedd.

Mae wedi bod yn hollol galonogol ac ysbrydoledig gweithio ochr yn ochr â phositifrwydd ac ymroddiad di-baid yr holl bobl anhygoel rwyf wedi treulio amser gydag yn ystod fy amser gyda Chysylltu’r Dreigiau. Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi gyd am wneud y prosiect yn rhywbeth i fod yn wirioneddol falch ohono.

Project Officer, Tawny Clark, reflects on the important and lasting networks created by the Connecting the Dragons project.

One of the most rewarding parts of this project has been connecting with all the people who’ve helped us along this journey to connect dragons. Those people engaged and enthused by the natural world and our magnificent herpetofauna, who’ve given their time and commitment to support our cause and champion our species. 

Success on Connecting the Dragons just wouldn’t be possible without the incredible efforts of our superb volunteers. On behalf of the project team, I’d like to thank everyone who’s made Connecting the Dragons an absolute privilege and pleasure to be a part of.

The end of October saw a flurry of grass snake egg laying heap workshops. With the odd pause to extract a welly (along with the individual wearing it) from the mud, the youth team at Swansea Community Farm threw their impressive energies and enthusiasm into creating a fabulous new heap on Cadle heath.

Always keen to collaborate and make efficient use of time and effort, I joined staff from Swansea Council’s AONB team and Parks department, along with volunteers from Clyne Valley Community Project (CVCP) for a combined conservation work task. We raked grass and bramble cuttings from a meadow-creation area into three whopping egg laying heaps, located in dense vegetation at the grassland margins. While we were hard at it, the area was rotovated; before everyone came together to cast yellow rattle seed over what is set to be turned into a species-rich meadow. I’m excited to see how it evolves in the years to come.

With only weeks to go until the project concludes, I’ve been in Aberdovey with a team of unflinchingly dedicated volunteers, digging sand patches on sand dunes for sand lizards. It’s been two days of hard graft, laughter and trying to come up with the ultimate sand-patching soundtrack, while everyone worked tirelessly through the November rain, wind, sunshine and rainbows.

It’s been utterly heart-warming and inspiring to work alongside the relentless positivity and dedication of all the amazing people I’ve spent time with during my time with Connecting the Dragons. Thank you all so much for making the project something to be truly proud of.
