ARC Members are an invaluable part of the Trust. Their shared passion for the UK’s disappearing amphibians and reptiles has provided much needed core funds which have enabled us to carry out vital work to conserve these wonderful animals and their habitats. Each year Amphibian and Reptile Conservation holds free events for our ARC Members to say a big thank you for their support. 

For ARC Members’ Fortnight 2022 we are offering our ARC Members a variety of free reserve tours at a range of locations (non ARC Members may attend at £5 pp). Join ARC staff on some of our beautiful nature reserves to learn more about the sites, the wildlife that calls them home and our work to conserve them.

Brookhill nature reserve lies on coastal slopes in the north-east of Flintshire, overlooking the Dee estuary and forms part of Deeside and Buckley Special Area of Conservation. Join us on Tuesday 20th September for a guided walk at Brookhill nature reserve and enjoy an exclusive look around this important great crested newt site. The site, which has restricted public access, is comprised of twenty ponds, a wildflower meadow, hedgerows and mature trees. 

Witley Common is a flagship reserve in Surrey that we have been managing for over 20 years. As well as rare reptile species the site is home to many other heathland, woodland and grassland species. Join us on Monday 26th September for a guided walk where you can find out about some of the site’s features, why it’s so great for wildlife, the different ways this landscape has been managed through its history and what ARC are doing now to create a thriving reserve.

Join us on Tuesday 27th September for a guided wildlife and archaeology walk around St Catherine's Hill nature reserve in Dorset. The archaeology and history of St Catherine’s Hill stretches from prehistory to the modern day, upstanding remains from the Iron Age, medieval period and both world wars can be seen on site along with numerous Bronze Age burial mounds. The prominent location and sense of isolation on the Hill has made it a special place for generations of people who have left their mark right up to the present day. Find out more about the fascinating history of the site and how ARC conserves it for people and wildlife.

Join us at 10am on Thursday 29th September for a guided reptile ramble around Clinton Devon Estates' Pebblebed Heaths, Woodbury Common, Devon. Learn about the UK's native reptiles and other wildlife that calls this beautiful site home.

Join our Snakes in the Heather Education Officer, Owain on Saturday 1st October from 10:30am for a family friendly wildlife walk around Parley Common. This historic heathland site near Hurn Airport in Dorset is a great place to see some true wildlife rarities. Spanning 107 hectares from West Parley to Tricketts Cross estate, Parley common nature reserve is home to all six native reptile species including the rare smooth snake and sand lizard.
